Pitra Dosha

When a person's departed forefathers / ancestors have not attained peace due to lack of religious rituals at the time of their death, a dosh develops into ones Horoscope which is known as "Pitra Dosha" as per ancient vedic texts.

Causes of Pitra Dosha :

  • If the ancestors did not perform certain rituals (like Shraddh Karma for their Ancestors) or made unethical choices, their negative karma can pass down to the next generations.
  • If the rituals for the deceased forefathers / ancestors were not performed correctly or adequately, it may lead to this dosha.
  • Ancestors who did not fulfill their duties to family, community, or society can bring imbalances that affect their descendants.

  8. Lighting diya (lamp) in the name of ancestors and offering flowers, fruits, and incense to these deities can be beneficial.
  9. Avoid arguments, bad behavior, and harsh words. Negative emotions like anger and resentment are believed to worsen the ancestral karma. Cultivating good virtues, such as humility, patience, and love, can improve the family’s well-being and pacify ancestors.
  10. Maintaining peace and unity within the family, as well as honoring family traditions, is essential in reducing the effects of Pitra Dosh. The well-being of the family, especially in terms of respecting and caring for the elderly and ancestors, is seen as a way to prevent ancestral issues from affecting future generations.
